2012 U19 National Team Program Information
The Competition:
Teams Canada East and Canada West will participate in the second IRF World U19 Championships in December 2012. The best U19 players from across Canada will have the chance to test themselves against the best the world has to offer.
Dates : December 28, 2012 to January 3, 2013
Competition Location : London, ONTEAM CANADA
Canada East: Athletes living in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland
Canada West: Athletes living in Manit oba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia or the territories.
What do I need to do to be on Team Canada?
Eligibility: All athletes that are under 19 years of age as of December 31, 2011 are eligible to tryout.
Selection Camps: In order to play on Team Canada, you must attend your regional tryout camp:
Selection camp: May 17, 2012 – May 21, 2012
Location: TBD - One in eastern and one in western Canada
Training Camps: If you are successful and join Canada’s best in preparing for the U19 national teams there will be 2-3 additional campsleading up to the U19 World Championships. Camps will be held in August, October and November leading up tothe U19 World Championship.
Will there be a cost?
Participation in the camps and on Team Canada will carry a cost. The costs will partially cover the preparation andcompetition costs for the program leading up to and including the U19 World Championships. The costs will be asfollows:Selection Camp Registration Fee - $1000
August Training Camp Fee - $750
Program Fee - $3700
Total Fees: $5450Through participation in Team Canada, every athlete will have access to fundraising tools so that they can raise funds to defray some or all of these costs.
How do I register to participate?
To participate in the selection camp, click on the link below for initial registration. How can I get ready?
The national team coaching staff are scouting athletes now, so continue to work hard,

sharolyn@ringette.caWouters, who still plays as a forward on the Cambridge Turbos, has picked up two silver medals as a member of Team Canada and picked up gold at the first ever World Club Championship in 2008. She is also an accomplished ringette coach, having coached Team Ontario to gold medals wins at the Canada Winter Games in both 2003 and 2007. She was also an assistant coach when Team Canada East won silver at the last U19 World Ringette Championship.

Jennifer@ringette.caWakefield lives in Langley and plays for the Lower Mainland Ringette League Thunder in the NRL. She has made four appearances on Team Canada, winning a gold and three silver medals and was also on the Turbos roster with Wouters when the team won the first ever World Club Championship in 2008. Wakefield has also coached Team BC at the 2010 and 2011 Canadian Ringette Championships.

Mosaic teams will have the chance to also compete at the U19 World Championships, representing of the countries that make Canada’s multicultural nature. Players must have tried out for Team Canada to be considered for the mosaic program, so for players who do not make Team Canada there is another option to get to London 2012. Based on your lineage (as far back as great-grandparent) you may be able to represent a country in your background. Mosaic teams will have a lighter training plan leading up to the U19 World Championships and will have access to world class coaching leading up to and at the championship.
Mosaic teams may also include athletes from nations getting started in ringette such as Slovakia and France where Canadian players will supplement players from those nations.
Can I try out for a mosaic team only?
In order to participate in the mosaic program you must be part of the selection process for Team Canada East or West. So, if you are interested in the mosaic program, your registration process is the same.What are the costs to participate in the mosaic program? As with Team Canada, there are costs associated with the Mosaic program. These are:
Selection Camp Registration Fee - $1000
Fall Camp Registration Fee - $750
Program Fee - $2400

You can submit anything you want, as long as it relates to ringette and is appropriate. Your favourite part about it, the tournaments, the teams, anything! I'll try to post things, but I think this may be a user-submission run blog!
Just submit your ideas either in the ask or submission box, and I'll make them into an image with credit to you! Or even just submit a picture or a story about a ringette experience you've had and I'll post it! :)
